Building Construction Approval (Plan Approval) — Where and How

You must get your plan approved before constructing a building. In Dhaka, RAJUK gives approval; in Chattogram, CDA; in Khulna, KDA; in Rajshahi, RDA; and in other areas, usually the relevant City Corporation or Pourashava.

General steps

  1. Land use clearance (where applicable)
  2. Prepare the plan through a registered architect/engineer
  3. Apply on the authority's prescribed form and pay the fee
  4. Verification and, if needed, inspection
  5. Approval, and after construction, an occupancy/use certificate (where applicable)

Fees, documents and timelines vary by City Corporation/Pourashava/Union and change from time to time — before applying, confirm with the relevant office or the official portal.
