Choosing a Tour Package — What's Included, What to Check and How to Avoid Fraud
Usually not included in a package
- Visa fee (often only 'visa assistance' is included)
- Travel tax or extra baggage
- Lunch/dinner, optional tours and tips
- City tax or resort fees
Signs of fraud
- Unusually low price and "last chance today" pressure
- Only a Facebook page, no fixed office or registration
- Reluctance to share the ticket PNR or hotel confirmation number — check these yourself on the airline and hotel sites
Package or plan it yourself?
A package suits first-time travellers or trips with family/elderly companions. If you're experienced, build your own itinerary and budget and compare.
This page does not promote any agency; verify the business yourself before paying.
- Take 2–3 packages for the same destination and days, and list each one's inclusions side by side
- Get the hotel names and check reviews and location yourself — if it says 'or similar', ask what the alternative is
- Verify the agency's office address, trade licence and travel-agency registration
- Get the refund policy in writing — what you get back if the visa is refused or a flight is cancelled
- Pay a small advance, through a bank/MFS with a receipt; avoid cash to personal numbers
FAQ
How do I know a travel agency is registered?
Ask to see its registration certificate and trade licence, and match the number with the ministry or relevant authority. Check membership of recognised trade bodies too.
Will I get my money back if the visa is refused?
That depends entirely on the agency's refund policy and your agreement. Get in writing which part is refundable before you pay.
Can I check the package hotel booking myself?
Yes — email the hotel with the confirmation number or match it on the booking platform.
