Scholarship Application Guide — Essays, References, Timeline and Interview
What the essay needs
- Specific examples — instead of "I can lead", say what you led and what the result was
- Why this subject, why this country/university
- What you want to contribute in Bangladesh afterwards — important for many government scholarships
Common mistakes
- Copying the same essay for every scholarship
- Ignoring the word limit or not answering the question
- Generic essays written by others or by AI — they show in the interview

FAQ
Is a scholarship essay the same as an SOP?
Similar, but not the same. The SOP is for the university — your academic preparation and fit; scholarship essays often answer specific questions on leadership, networking and future impact.
Who should be my referee?
Someone who has seen your work or study closely — a teacher, supervisor or manager. A referee who can give specific examples beats a big title.
