UK university application from Bangladesh — how it works
Master's applications usually go straight to the university's online portal; undergraduate applications use UCAS. Most universities admit on a rolling basis — when seats fill, applications close, so don't wait for the last date. A four-year Bangladeshi honours degree is usually treated as equivalent to a UK bachelor's; universities publish country-specific entry requirements for Bangladesh, so check the CGPA condition there. This is the UK university admission Bangladesh route in short.
UK student visa requirements for Bangladesh
- CAS: the Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies number from your university
- Funds: remaining tuition plus living costs (higher in London) held continuously for a set number of days — see gov.uk for amounts

- IHS: the immigration health surcharge on top of the visa fee
UK study with spouse from Bangladesh
Since January 2024, students on taught master's courses cannot bring a spouse or children as dependants. PhD and research-based postgraduate courses still allow it. If you plan to move with family, factor this in when choosing a course.
UK study cost for Bangladesh students
Two big parts: tuition (varies widely — business and engineering usually cost more) and living costs (highest in London). Because a master's in the UK from Bangladesh usually takes one year, the total is often lower than in two-year systems. You can work limited hours during term, but planning to pay tuition from that income isn't realistic.
UK scholarship for Bangladesh students
Chevening and Commonwealth are the major government awards; nearly every university also offers partial tuition discounts to international students. Details: UK scholarship guide.
UK September intake and January intake for Bangladesh students
September is the main intake with the most courses and scholarships. January has many courses too, and some universities offer May. Leave at least 3 months for the visa.
After graduation
The Graduate Route lets you stay to work for a period after your degree. A reduction to its length has been announced — check gov.uk for the rule when you apply.
