Visa: free 30-day visa on arrival
The Maldives gives every nationality a free 30-day tourist visa on arrival, with conditions: enough passport validity, a confirmed return ticket, a booking at a registered resort, hotel or guesthouse, and the means to cover your stay. Complete the IMUGA traveller declaration online before you fly. Airlines may also ask to see your booking at check-in in Dhaka.
Resort or local island — the key Maldives budget question
Maldives tour cost from Bangladesh varies most with where you stay:
- Resort islands: one resort per island, water or beach villas. Service charge, government tax and the green tax are added to the room rate. Speedboat or seaplane transfers from Malé are expensive — seaplanes the most.
- Local islands (Maafushi, Thoddoo, Ukulhas and others): guesthouses, public ferries or shared speedboats. Much cheaper, but local rules apply — modest dress outside designated "bikini beaches".
At resorts the meal plan (Bed & Breakfast, Half Board, Full Board, All Inclusive) changes the price a lot, and you can't bring food from outside — choose carefully. Use this as your Maldives resort guide before comparing offers.
Maldives package with flight and honeymoon packages
A Maldives package with flight from a Bangladeshi agency usually includes the ticket, hotel, transfers and some meals. Before comparing prices, match three things: the resort name and room type, the meal plan, and whether the transfer is by speedboat or seaplane. A Maldives honeymoon package from Bangladesh or other couple packages often add a candlelit beach dinner or spa — compare with the resort's own offers.
Sample 5-day itinerary (local island)
- Day 1: arrive in Malé, ferry/speedboat to Maafushi
- Day 2: snorkelling trip and a sandbank
- Day 3: dolphin cruise or a resort day visit
- Day 4: beach day, night fishing in the evening
- Day 5: walk around Malé, then the airport
Maldives best time
December to April is dry with calm seas — the most expensive period. May to October is the southwest monsoon: more rain and wind, still plenty of sunny days, and lower resort prices.

FAQ
Do Bangladeshis need a visa before going to the Maldives?
No. A free 30-day tourist visa is given on arrival if you have a valid passport, return ticket, accommodation booking and enough funds. Complete the IMUGA form online before travelling.
Can I visit the Maldives on a budget?
Yes — staying in guesthouses on local islands and using public ferries costs far less than a resort. You can still book a resort day visit for the experience.
