Visa: the SAARC benefit
Nepal gives SAARC nationals (except Afghanistan) a tourist visa on arrival. The first visit of up to 30 days in a visa year is normally free; a second visit in the same year or a longer stay is charged. Rules change, so check Nepal's Department of Immigration or the Nepal Embassy in Dhaka before going. Filling in the online arrival form in advance lets you skip the kiosk queue.
Nepal tour cost from Bangladesh
Nepal is good for budget travel:
- Hotels: Thamel in Kathmandu and Lakeside in Pokhara have every budget; you can bargain off-season
- Transport: Kathmandu to Pokhara is 7–8 hours by tourist bus on mountain roads, or half an hour by domestic flight — the bus is much cheaper, the flight saves time
- Food: dal bhat and momo are cheap; Thamel and Lakeside also have halal restaurants
- Currency: Nepali rupee; certain Indian rupee notes are not accepted — check before carrying rupees
Kathmandu Pokhara tour package
A typical Nepal tour package from Bangladesh includes hotels in Kathmandu and Pokhara, a Kathmandu city tour (Durbar Square, Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath), transport to Pokhara and the Sarangkot sunrise. A Nepal honeymoon package usually adds a night at a mountain-view resort in Nagarkot. Paragliding, the mountain flight and a Chitwan safari are usually extra.

Best time to visit Nepal
October–November has the clearest skies and the best Himalayan views — the best time, and the busiest. March–April is second best, with rhododendrons in bloom. December–February is cold but clear. June–September monsoon clouds hide the mountains and landslides affect hill roads.
